Poro Declare Search Warrant for Foday Conteh

Members of the secrete Poro Society here in Sierra Leone have issued a search warrant for Foday Conteh, son of late Santos Conteh and kate Fatu Conteh of Magbalafu Village, Northern Region of the country.

Magbalafu and it environ is a place where the practices of this male secrete society, Poro, is complete entrenched and mostly young men are forced into joining them. This secret society usually comprises senior government officials, making it extremely difficult for police to intervene in protecting persons who are in conflict with members of the Poro Society.
Against this backdrop, Foday Conteh found himself in this extremely challenging situation as the twenty-one (21) yrs old who was born on March 6th 1997 was caught and about to be forcefully initiated into this male society.
Our investigation proves that On May 6th 2018, a large member of the Poro in that part of the country wanted him to join their secret society. As a result, they laid siege and throng the residence of Foday completely armed with cutlasses, pickaxe and other dangerous materials. Their intention, one of the neighbours who spoke to us on the strict grounds of anonymity confirmed, “was to get Foday arrested and then taken to the secrete poro bush where the initiation was to take place.”
“At the Poro bush prior to their initiation, we were told that the Poro man took two of the persons who were forcefully arrested but never did bring them again,” the source further confirm during an exclusive interview.
At this point, another source said, Foday tried to escape. Foday, they say, was against being forcefully initiated because he was a Muslim who had strict religious reservations on joining secrete societies. Then fighting ensued between Foday and few of the Poro Men, but he finally escaped of a motorbike to the border village closer to the Republic of Guinea.
During the altercation, we got confirm news that Foday was seriously damaged including a stab in his stomach with a bottle. The aftermath of his escaped from the poro bush results into him being declared wanted, and his father and mother murdered in the poro men’s fear that the young man will reveal secretes he got whilst in their secrete shrine.
Meanwhile, here in Sierra Leone, the traditional Poro Society is a male society, where young men in provincial areas of the country are sometimes forcefully initiated in a process that is mostly excruciatingly painful.
However, many are speculating that Foday’s own forceful initiation into the Poro Society could be fiercer and that he could likely die in there because the Poro leaders have now personal grievance against him.
However, Foday is still on the run and nowhere to be found.
